Is Green Buddhism the Natural State?plus book signing with Sky McCain author of Planet as SelfTalk with Shé-zér Khandro and Namgyal Dorje
Saturday 24th March 2pm
Sky McCain – acclaimed environmentalist, author and founder of the Wholesome Food Association will be at Aro Ling for the day answering questions about his landmark book Planet as Self.
The day will including a talk on Green Buddhism with Shé-zér Khandro and Namgyal Dorje. There will be opportunity to purchase signed copies of Sky’s book on the day, with all proceeds going to the Drala Jong rural retreat centre appeal (visit drala-jong.blogspot.com for more details). Planet as Self is a book which focuses on the key question ‘Why don't people love the Earth?’ Why, when we know what must be done, do we deflect and argue, doubt and contend? But we can learn new ways of understanding and appreciating our world and develop beliefs more suitable for this century. Planet as Self calls for an Earth-based spirituality. Earthen Spirituality teaches us that we have no need to “go” anywhere to be with the powerful and sustaining spirit of the Earth. What people are saying about the book: ‘An incisive and most helpful guide for developing an Earth-centred spirituality that is integral and holistic, collaborative rather than competitive, enabling us to become partners and co-creators of Gaia.’ Ursula King, Professor Emerita of Theology and Religious Studies University of Bristol. Sky McCain is generously gifting all profits from the book sale to the appeal, and is sponsoring the creation of a garden at the Drala Jong centre. |
Whilst there is no charge for the talk and discussion, all donations made on the day will go towards the Drala Jong retreat centre appeal. Refreshments will be available, again on a donation-only basis. Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or call 0117 239 8505 |
