Dzogchen, the Transcultural Vehicle
Encounters with the Elements of the North
The conceptual framework of the Dzogchen teachings (the ultimate Vehicle of Vajrayana) is exceedingly spare. In the Aro tradition the path embraces e.g. the 'natural' symbolism of elemental psychology together with its associated therapy; meditation on the nature of Mind; physical yogas; the yoga of relationships; and martial arts; without liturgy or textual sadhana. These are simple means of communicating between a Buddhist teacher and students who lack a common culture, ethnic Buddhist backgrounds, or overt religiosity. In the north Dzogchen has offered motivated practitioners a mirror in which to face personal and general karma (psychology and culture) including addiction, introversion, abusive relationships and depression.

Estonian Nyingma has pleasure to inform you that the Fourth International Conference "Buddhism and Nordland 2010" will take place from 23-25. september, 2010 in Tallinn University . The aim of the Conference "Buddhism and Nordland" is to study the Buddhist history of the Nordic countries and expand upon Buddhism as cultural phenomenon in historical and cultural context. Orientalists, scholars and Buddhists will meet under similar topics from the Nordic countries and beyond, for example Estonia, Latvia , Lithuania , Sweden , Finland , Norway , St.Petersburg Russia, ,Mongolia, Ukraine , China, India aso.
The main subject of the Conference "Buddhism and Nordland 2010" is "Historical Connections of Buddhism in the Nordic countries" Working language of the conference will be English (simultaneous translation into Estonian ). The time for paper presentation is 30 minutes. Papers to be presented in the conference will be published on website of the Conference "Buddhism and Nordland ".
