Summer Retreat

Fearlessly alive

Retreat with Déwang Pamo and Traktung Dorje

August 8th to 15th 2023
BergZendo Hohe Wand
Am Almfrieden 87
2724 Hohe Wand, Austria
How can we face our circumstances joyfully and fearlessly? In the face of disorientation and chaos, how do we realize the wisdom and compassion that are our true nature? How do we remain alive and open to the dance of form and emptiness in our lives?

During this weeklong retreat, Ngakma Déwang Pamo and Naljorpa Traktung Dorje will introduce and give transmission of the Chöd teachings and practices according to the Aro gTér. These teachings and practices were originated by the great Tibetan yogini Ma-gÇig Labdrön (1055-1145) and provide a powerful means of becoming open and fearless in times of crisis.

In the course of the week, the transmission of the Lama’i Naljor of Ma-gÇig Labdrön and the gTérma melody of Ma-gÇig Labdrön’s mantra, as well as ritual empowerment will be offered.
Anyone wishing to use the opportunity to engage in the ritual practice of Chöd will want to bring a Chöd-drum and khangling (thigh bone trumpet, made of bone or wood).

The evenings are dedicated to selected stories of the Mahasiddhas - the Buddhist yogis and yoginis who found and followed a path to realization based on their very different personalities, individual interests and abilities. Their insights and teachings are still highly relevant and inspiring today.

In addition, the physical exercises of sKu-mNyé will be taught and practiced in the afternoons. sKu-mNyé is a Buddhist yogic system of exercises that massage the body on the psycho-physical level. These physical exercises are suitable for people of various ages and fitness levels and provide direct access to profound meditation experience.

The summer retreat is open to all who wish to learn about or deepen their understanding of the teachings and practices of the Aro gTér lineage.
There will be plenty of opportunities to ask individual questions and for private conversations with the teachers. Families with children are warmly welcome.
