Summer Retreat

Open Mind - Open Heart

Retreat with Déwang Pamo and Traktung Dorje

Sunday Juli 28th to Sunday August 4th 2019
BergZendo Hohe Wand
Am Almfrieden 87
2724 Hohe Wand, Austria
When we open our senses, we begin to feel that we are connected with our environment: with the sun in the sky, with the tree under which we sit, the wind that moves the tree's branches, and with the earth that carries us. The elements - earth, water, fire, air and space - are the "building blocks" that we are made of, as well as the origin of the phenomena and nature around us.

When we meditate, we realize that the quality of our presence radiates to everyone and everything around us – and that we participate in the radiance of everyone and everything around us as well. This experience will help us to climb out of the cocoon of self-orientation, and to open up to the liberating potentiality of every moment.

During this week, Ngakma Déwang and Naljorpa Traktung will be offering teachings that focus on the Dzogchen view and meditation methods according to the Aro gTér. There will be extensive sitting practice, yogic song, and instruction into the physical exercises of sKu-mNyé, as well as the possibility to engage in craft activities.

In the evenings, emphasis will be put on exploring selected hagiographies and methods of the 84 Mahasiddhas. As we become familiar with these teachings, we discover the methods of those Buddhist practicioners who have searched and found inspiration in their daily life, their personal environment and livelyhood in India many centuries ago. We will find out how their methods are still applicable and highly effective today.

“We are not separate from our world, or anyone in our world. We cannot say of anything ‘This has nothing to do with me’. We are not separate as beings. This idea of connection is subtle, because our connection can take any form. Only our innate kindness—liberated through meditation—can guide us to respond accurately.”
- Ngak'chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen
