The Fearless Warrior in Difficult Times An introduction to the Ling Gesar gTérma Ling Gesar is the prototype of a Buddhist warrior. The story of his heroic deeds has been passed down over many centuries throughout Central Asia and the Himalayas and is of primary importance for the cultural identity of the people living there. His example of being a fearless enlightened being in the most difficult circumstances of an ongoing war can also be highly relevant for us living in a time of political change and general uncertainty. This retreat is for people interested to receive an introduction into the Ling Gesar gTérma which is held by Lama Bar-ché Dorje, a Nyingma practitioner born in the Neatherlands and now living in Finland. Having been engaged in martial arts for many decades he is most qualified to be the lineage holder of a gTérma concerned with enlightened warriorship. However, this weekend will not revolve around the physical exercises available in this lineage but will rather focus on the speech and mind aspects of the practice. Apart from a general introduction into his lineage Lama Bar-ché will introduce the practices of sKu-srung and mKha'srung (protectors of space and emanation body). The sKu-srung are protectors of the teachers and their kyil-khor, and are there to ensure that the possibility for transmission is always available. The mKha’srung are protectors of the environment. Lama Bar-ché will explain why in this lineage the sKu-srung and mKha'srung is one non-dual practice We need to become sKu-srung and mKha'srung in the world, so that our experiential fearlessness can be of influence to all beings that we meet. This is one of the core practices of the Thangtong Thugthig gTérma of Thangtong Gyalpo, (King of High Planes and Vast Dimensions of Being), received by Gang’dül Lingpa |
