We are a local practice group in Austin Texas that is engaged in study and practice of the Vajrayana Buddhist martial art of Dra'dül Gar-tak Nyén-Kyong. We meet weekly to engage in silent sitting, Jong-dar, and Gar-tak Buddhist martial arts. If you are interested in participating please contact the organizer for details.

"Gar-tak is not a sport. Gar-tak is a Vajrayana Buddhist Martial Art System, in which you remain in the natural state in intensive communication with opponents – therefore recognising the nature of Mind and the deviation from the nature of Mind in the person who sees themselves as your opponent. A spontaneous dance springs out of this – infused with the wisdom of knowing what to do in the most compassionate manner within the circumstances. You need to be sensitive (emptiness) and spontaneous (arising form) at the same time as experiencing the nondual dance within the intensity of relationship with other nondual beings who have not yet recognised their nondual nature. The main purpose in Gar-tak is to remain in the nondual state: within intensity. If the practitioner has not recognised the nature of Mind, then the practice is to watch the emotional coping-strategies within the intensity – and to try to self-liberate the coping-strategies within that intensity.
